Nirvana Merch When Nirvana was on their first major label tour in 1989, they released their first official Nirvana t-shirt. The shirt featured a graphic of the circle of Hell from Dante's Inferno and read, "Fudge Packin' Crack Smokin' Satan Worshippin' Motherfuckers." The band's smiley logo, which was popular in the 70s, has since been twisted and subverted by the acid house craze of the late 80s. The band's use of the graphic hasn't been without controversy, though.

Nirvana t-shirts are popular with fans who have a passion for the band. Many of the t-shirts feature the band's famous smiling face, which was first introduced on their Nevermind album flyer. Cobain is thought to have been inspired by the smiley graphic found on a strip club marquee in Seattle, which was filled with bad puns. The logo became one of the band's most recognizable images.
